Law of Triviality

This law says that we tend to give disproportionate weight to trivial issues not because it’s important but because everyone can understand them. Whereas, important complex issues won’t be discussed much because most people struggle to understand them. This is why we see a lot of heated discussion about education, politics or religion but not in microeconomics, statistics, or engineering issues. StackOverflow is civil compared to Reddit for this reason.

When we cannot understand the important problems, let’s NOT choose to talk about something else. Instead, ask questions and learn until we can discuss it.
